Roanoke Valley Senior Golf Tour
Handicap Information
| The RVSGT
utilizes the USGA handicap system with modifications made to reflect
the limited number of TOUR rounds. The TOUR calculates a Handicap
Differential, for each TOUR round you play, using a USGA formula
that uses the players score, the course rating, the standard slope
(113) and the course slope. Each course has a course rating and slope
for each set of tees, allowing the calculation based on the tees
played, thus, reflecting the diffculty of the course. After each TOUR
round the handicap differential is calculated. * * * Handicap Differential = Score - Course Rating x 113 / Course Slope * * * Based on the number of TOUR rounds played, an average is taken of the lowest differentials, as set out in the table below, to determine a player’s handicap. The Handicap Index is calculated by multiplying the averaged handicap differentials by 85 percent (vs. the 96% used by USGA). The maximum allowed Index for the Tour is 36.4. * * * Handicap Index = Avg of Lowest Differentials (based on table) x 85% * * * A player’s Handicap Index is adjusted before the next event to reflect the upcoming course’s slope based on tees from which the player will be playing. This is the player’s Course or Event Handicap and will be marked on the player’s scorecard as the amount to be deducted or added to determine the NET score. * * * Event Handicap = Handicap Index x Course Slope Rating / 113 * * * Click here to see the Event Handicap for your next tournament
